Let’s rewind to your childhood. Did you ever hide treasure in the backyard for someone to find?
Well, now a Kelowna, B.C. treasure hunt experience company is hiding something for you to find.
After knowing he wanted to start a business in the “puzzle realm,” Serge Livingston (pictured in main image of story) decided to bring his treasure hunt fantasy to life with Treaźe.
Riddles, tricks, and a mission meant for teams of 6 allows for a social bubble to gather in the hunt for treasure.
Livingston launched Treaźein December 2020.
“I’ve launched a tourism company in the middle of winter in the middle of a pandemic,” he laughs.
With the Coronavirus still being the topic of conversation, Livingston puts our mind at ease by ensuring all guidelines are met.
“We recommend with current COVID regulations just to keep everything safe,” he says. “When doing these we want to follow all necessary precautions.”
The pandemic was no stranger to putting plans on hold, however Treaźe plans for the warmer months ensure there will be multiple treasure maps to partake in.
Whether being a corporate retreat, a university event, or a wild Wednesday, Livingston explains the process. “You’ll purchase a treasure map on our website and get a text, which is a setlist of clues and instructions.”
With a total of six park locations, prizes can vary anywhere between $500 to $1,000 depending on the number of players. The user will scan a Treaźe box using their phone’s tap feature or scan via QR code to retrieve their next clue.
As an upcoming adventure company, Treaźe is still accumulating data to provide the best customer experience. Tourism Organizations or individuals are also welcome to build their own treasure hunts by becoming a verified host or hunt planner.
Livingston mentions that this is a great way to generate income while promoting surrounding areas. “They will be able to fret their own prize of $50.00 to $100.00. And then scale that for earning their own money selling their own treasure maps,” he says.
Treasure hunts are a great team-building exercise. Treaźe provides a 6 step guide for teams to get prepared before the big hunt.
Treaźe is helping to raise awareness of the importance of keeping Kelowna parks clean. They have enabled participants to take part in their initiative to recycle and care for the treasure map locations.
With 120 purchases since last December, Livingston and his team expect a busy summer season.
Experience the nostalgia. Hunt for that next clue and get maps ready. Hunts typically last between 2-48 hours and are designed for anyone to participate.
