Charlie Toth has just launched his fist book ever, EYE LOVE YOU – a collection of heartfelt poems that take familiar moments of life and paints them using words-pictures with a unique, emotive-language. Some of the poems are enhanced by the use of photographs, which helps drive home key themes.

“It’s an amazing feeling to launch my very first book and I am so thrilled to share my passion for poetry with thousands of readers locally, nationally and internationally,” says Toth during an interview.
“I don’t apologize for what I write or the way that I write it,” he explains. “Some might say that my style is very direct, raw, and intense. In my opinion, that is what life is; in your face, unapologetic and powerful. Life is random, fragile, short, and yet ever-so beautiful. The recent loss of two amazing friends in my life made me realize that I am not going to leave things unsaid, unwritten and undone.”
“I tend to see the human condition through a series of experiences that we all share, such as love, loss, friendship, relationships, children, parents, family, pain, rage, kindness, generosity, attention, dedication, service and extremely hard work. The hundreds of hours that I have invested in this book have been that of love. It is ok to say that we love. It is what makes us so wonderfully passionate beings. We are able to conceptualize abstract thoughts and convey them in a way that creates a unique experience. I hope that when you read it, you can escape into or from your thoughts, and allow yourself to feel,” he says.
“Feel the word-pictures that I paint and remember, dream, feel those feelings which may lay dormant and have not been accessed in a very long time. Some people go through life without ever feeling a kiss, a caress, a warm hug, and the love of another human being. I want this book to be that warm hug for people to experience. It is okay to laugh, cry and everything in between when you read poetry. It is your experience. If even one poem in this book makes you think or feel something wonderful, then I feel that as a writer, I have accomplished my goal,” he adds.
It comes as no surprise that the author has been able to grasp the intricacies of poignant perspectives, as he has spent his life helping others and is empathic by nature. As a contrast, he played and coached football at Saint Mary’s University, helping his teammates and youth discover their sport of choice. He then spent over a decade as a youth-care worker and welfare caseworker, job developer, and then started his own company, Kaizen Life Coaching which he does in his spare time. He is currently a job developer with the Government of Nova Scotia.

Having moved to Pennsylvania to play football and finish his high school education, he returned to Canada and attended SMU. After graduating, Toth spent time teaching English in Japan, an experience he found profound, and one that further rounded his perspective on universal life experiences and way of being in the moment.
Deciding to return to his university town, he settled in Halifax and is the proud, single dad of two bright and energetic boys, Andrew and Kyle.
All of these experiences, combined with his personal journey, allow Toth to view life events through a unique lens. It is by utilizing this lens that he has been able to craft this collection of poems, which speaks of the human condition through many different experiences.
The poems themselves will guide the reader on their own unique emotional journey.
