“Come back to the way things used to be” philosophy will return
The entire promotional products industry is about to experience considerable change and it’s all for the better, according to veteran Scott Reid (left in picture above).
Reid, who has just joined The Next Trend (TNT) Designs Inc. team in Mississauga, ON, highly anticipates that organizations – small, medium and big – across North America will alter their business structures in a bid to meet the growing demand from clients who want business carried out the old-fashioned way.
What’s Old Is New Again
“Over the last decade or so our entire industry has undergone rapid change with new technology, acquisitions and corporate takeovers, and now customers simply want to go back to the good-old-days,” says Reid, who is now TNT’s Director of Marketing and Business Development.
“New technology and innovations and new corporate ideologies of sorts have been exciting to embrace over the years, however, we will now see more companies going back to the old-school approach of doing business, where business dealings are more personal on many levels,” he says.
Reid indicates the same will hold true for businesses in the industry seeking to recruit and retain top-talent.
“Professionals of all ages in our industry also don’t want to feel like a number – they want a true sense of belonging, knowing that their investments and energies make a real difference at the end of the day,” he adds.
“Come back to the way things used to be” is a philosophy that many businesses will promote to larger audiences, indicates Reid.
“Going back to the old-way will be the in-thing and it will help businesses, and our company grow to new heights,” he explains. “You can still utilize technology and social media, and you can still be corporate to a degree, but the more your business remains in tune with the clients’ needs on a deeper level then the rewards are simply endless.”
Growing With TNT
Reid indicates that he is elated to join TNT – a company that has earned the bragging rights as one of the leading promotional, marketing, advertising, and branding companies in all of North America.

Reid has a big role with the company and will have lots to juggle in his new executive position.
“I will be in charge of further building our sales team, growing our client base, managing and overseeing social media and all of our promotional campaigns,” he says. “It’s a tall order but I am up for the challenge. TNT has so many great assets: we care about our team, our clients, and we are extraordinary in so many ways, so we will only continue to be successful on the global stage.”
Rob Charlton, who is the co-founder and co-owner of TNT, is thrilled to have Reid on the team.
“These are new times, today is not yesterday and sales reps are tired of getting treated like a number and clients like a dollar value!” If you’re going to be successful, you need people in place that will support this type of forward thinking reiterates Charlton. “Scott is definitely that individual and he will be a huge asset to our company.” Charlton continues, “He is down to earth, creative, personable, energetic and most importantly in sync with our brand and corporate philosophies!”
“Scott will build on our mission of ‘Come back to the way things used to be’ which will resonate in a big way with new sales reps and our valued clients alike.”

“I love golf and most of all I love music,” he says. “And I like classic rock. It’s neat to see how many people – young and old – still like the music from the years gone by and it’s just as popular today as it was yesterday,” he says.
“What do I recommend to anyone in life who wants to succeed personally and professionally? Work hard and always take good care of your family, friends and customers,” he says.
